				<title>Quick shout out to the team for today! It was great to see ya’all.

Lucas- I love your positive energy. Clearly yoga is not my forte and I was nervous. But you were there, smiling, sharing some laughs, it took my nerves away AND made those leg lifts go by so much faster &#x1f602;

Jake- Way to get those steps in on that run today! It was cold out there &#x1f976; but we got some good miles in.

David- Thank you for your encouragement on the run. It’s a new personal best for me at this point in my running career and a great way to set a standard going into the new year. &#x1f947;

Elan- My girl! I always love sparring with you lady! Our intensity level is just right, where it allows me to work on fundamentals I need to brush up on and still get a good workout in.  &#x1f91c;&#x1f3fb;&#x1f91b;&#x1f3fb;

Brody- It was great to finally meet you. Great job sparring today, you have some great kicks! Can’t wait to see more from you. &#x1f977;

Mike- Thank you for all you do to push us and support us through the challenge. &#x1fae1;

Phillip- Thank you for the time you dedicate to us &#x1f64f;&#x1f3fb; You commute so far to help us out. I learn so much from you every time we train together.

Looking forward to meeting the rest of the team as we go &#x1f64c;&#x1f3fc;</title>

				<title>About a week into the challenge… Creating a schedule and time frames is where I am struggling right now. The sudden change in physical activity has caused some old injuries to flare up a bit, but I’m hoping to get that under control. Trying to take things day by and not get frustrated. Making as much progress as I can each day, and One More, when I can. I’m happy to be on this journey and excited to learn and improve.</title>

				<title>Wow! I am still amazed that I am qualified to be a black belt candidate. I started karate many years ago because my son was doing it. I thought it would be good to have a similar activity that we could share and do together. I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would be where I am today. I was concerned because I was older and had never done any karate before. You are never too old to try something new. I am scared and excited at the same time. The black belt candidates are required to do 1,000 miles, 1,000 kata, 1,000 acts of kindness,1,000 rounds of sparring, 50,000 push ups, 50,000 sit ups, read 6 books, write a weekly post, blog once a month, write an essay about what it means to be a black belt, and more. That all must be done in 13 months. It sounds overwhelming, but I know it can be accomplished if a little bit is done everyday. I actually started doing sit ups, push ups, and walking mileage on September 1 when Sensei told me I could be a candidate starting December 1, 2023. I knew I could not just start doing 140 crunches, 140 pushups, and many miles a day without starting preparing my body for what was to come. I started slow and worked up to the amount needed to do today. Karate had become a daily form of life. I hope to meet this challenge, face it working with it, and triumph over it.</title>
