Birthday week it was for me on April 4th. Now I am 44 years on this earth and I have to say – so far, so good. I went to the doctor’s recently to get a physical – the first one since Covid started. All good!
The only wear and tear is on my left knee, or as I call it nowadays my bad knee. The doctor suggested some arthritis lotion, I am doing this currently since a week. I am not sure if I can say I see improvement – but it seems I can sit in seiza easier. I will have to monitor further.
However, this is a good moment to remind any martial artist to turn in your foot position while you do a side kick in order to relieve your knees. I am not sure that I was not doing that during my early days of practice (some 20 years ago), but now I am paying very particular attention to foot positioning.
As for now I am very fortunate to not get hurt during my black belt journey. Both my fellow companions have experienced broken bones and concussions. Fortunately, both Geneva san and David san are back in business.
Glad you are in good health, young man! Looking forward to continued good health and for myself getting back to 100%. I too need to work on my foot positioning and rotation. I am aware of it, but being aware of it and doing it in action can be challenging for an old guy like me.
