Backtracking a little, I sprained my knee back in January. I started running a few months ago, just short jogs. This last week I tried to do some sprint work and my knee started aching. I was trying to figure out what was wrong. I broke down my stride. It’s hard for me to lengthen my stride, and the impact of a longer stride hurts. Which is frustrating. Even with my worst ankle sprains I have been able to get back on the field within six months. With my knee, I can’t even sprint yet. I’ve given up soccer and been trying to focus on my martial arts training.  I don’t know what to do. I have been taking more frequent walks on the weekends. But at the end of the day, I still can’t run. Which means I am a long way out from sparring, running or getting back on the soccer field. Icing on the cake, I am losing muscle in my legs too from the lack of training. Thats a lot for my mind to absorb. I need to figure out an alternative to get my legs moving and strengthen my knee. 🫥

1 thought on “Adapting

  1. I do a lot of walking. That is where I get most of my daily miles. Walk your dog often. You could try riding a bike. It is less stressful for your knee. Swimming and swim aerobics are low impact for the knee. I did a lot of water exercise to strengthen my back when I hurt my back. Keep up on physical therapy for the knee. It will also help strengthen it. I hope this gives you ideas on what to so you can eventually get back to running.
