On June 22nd, 2024 there was a martial arts tournament at another big high school. This tournament was fun but a little different than what I am used to. Not as many people were wearing gis and were just wearing t-shirts with pants or shorts. I know most of the people were there just for the sparring parts. I know that because I was the only person in my kata division and there were plenty of other people in my other divisions. It was kind of disappointing that no one else did kata so I automatically won 1st but it didn’t really feel like a real win. There were 3 other people in my point sparring division and I had 2 matches. Unfortunately I lost both of my matches and placed 4th. I’m still not quite used to point sparring rules even at other tournaments but it’s always good practice. For my kickboxing division there was only one other person for me to fight. I feel like I did pretty well with attacking and pushing forward in this match and I won 1st place again. There was no one else from my dojo here but luckily a sensei from another dojo that I knew was there so he was really nice and helped coach me for the point sparring and kickboxing. I hope I get to train with him again soon because he is a really great teacher.

That is awesome you went to a tournament that no one else went to. It is good to compete even when you are the only competitor because it gives you experience practicing in front of an audience. Great job on competing and winning metals.
