This is the last blog I will write about my not so recent trip to Europe. The last couple days of our trip were spent in Amsterdam, which is one of the coolest cities I have ever been too. We took the train from Liege to Amsterdam, and got there about midday. We went to a brunch place which was pretty good for lunch, then walked to our airbnb. Despite being a pretty important city economically, Amsterdam is actually a really small city, with about 800,000 residents. Our airbnb was only 1 mile away from Amsterdam Centraal and also basically in Dam square, which is part of the cities namesake. (Amsterdam is basically Amstel + Dam and probably with some beer to make it sound better) We rented some bikes and biked about 8 miles around on our first day. It turns out that biking in Amsterdam is absolutely terrifying, especially when you are actively trying to not get lost. We later went to an italian place for dinner, which had some pretty good pizza, and then we went to bed for the night, but not after hitting another candy shop first. Unfortunately for me this would be the last normal day of the trip for me. The next day I woke up with a runny nose, which I had quickly atributed to allergies and moved along. That day we went to Anne Frank House, which was definitely an experience. We then noticed the canal boats outside and we decided to do that the following day. The next day I was much more sick, but mostly just dealt with it since it would be our last day in europe anyway. My dad went to a pharmacy, and got me some actual tissues, and some nose spray. Unfortunately Europe doesn’t sell sudafed over the counter like it is in the US, so I had to wait until we got home for that. We went on the canal cruise which was really cool and we got to learn some cool things like how of the three meters of canal depth, the bottom is mud, the middle is bikes, and the top is water. I’m not kidding about the bikes. There is some guy who’s job it is, is to pull bikes out of the canals and the rivers. We later went to bed early since we had a 2:15 wake up call the following morning. Unfortunately, which I didn’t know at the time, was that I most likely had covid, which I have touched upon in previous blogs.
