Merry Christmas to all! As we reflect on this special time of year, we are reminded of how important the time we spend with family is. Family can mean many things. Family is, obviously, our blood relatives first but can certainly be any person or group of persons that we care about and share experiences with. While I personally love and cherish spending time with my blood relatives, I also love and cherish time with my “extended” families. My friend family, my work family, my karate dojo family. I feel very lucky to have so many important “families” in my life.
As with my blood relatives, I can get angry and frustrated with my work, friend, and karate family members. But they are all there for me as I am for them. We grow together and share experiences through the highs and lows. At the end of the day, family is family, no matter what part of life they belong to. It’s what life is all about. We should all be reminded of the importance of people that we call family and cherish every moment together.
I just wonder if sensei will let me count wrestling with my nieces and nephews as sparring time???
That is wonderful you were able to spend time with your family over Christmas. They will always be there whenever you need them. Enjoy your vacation with them.
