Preparing for the Final Test

My Black Belt test is coming up really soon on January 11th. There isn’t really much I can do to prepare for doing kata and sparring in front of a couple hundred people but practicing kata and working on my cardio. I’ve been working with my personal trainer on preparing my stamina for the test and I think it is working and enhancing my cardio. This last week before my test I will do my best to dedicate about an hour a day just to doing katas including open hand and weapons. I will only have a couple days for sparring practice before my test too so I will have to make the most of it. During this test I really will need to pace myself so I don’t lose all my energy in the beginning like I do during sparring sometimes which is a bad habit to have.

My current Challenge progress as of March 7, 2026.
