Week 28 – David Brezinski

Sunday sparring, coffee and football – My 2022 fall routine

I love this time of year. Fall! There is a briskness in the morning air, the leaves are starting to change color and it is football season.

Dirk-san and I have gotten into a Sunday AM sparring and coffee afterward routine, which is great and necessary for us to keep our sparring numbers up. Andrew-san joined us today and we got a real good sparring workout and afterward, went and had some coffee sitting outside with the scent of the small rain shower that had just passed through. I immensely enjoy the camaraderie while we talk about current events, our training, and when my training partners share with me things I can focus to improve upon.

After the morning workout, I look forward to being able to relax and watch some football (I am actually listening to a game right now as I type this as there’s just something very familiar and comforting in the game tempo). This afternoon I did my pushup’s and was thinking about maybe getting a short run in, but my my right hamstring is acting up (pulled it slightly this AM during sparring).

These things in combination bring a balance to my Sunday. An intense workout, afterward some coffee and social interactions with my dojo friends and finally relaxing and taking in some entertainment watching Sunday football. Makes for a balanced and good Sunday!
