I went to my friend’s bachelor party over the weekend in South Lake Tahoe. It was a lot of fun and had great times with a group of friends. Although it was very eventful, I was still able to get some training in. Lack of sleep during these events can really effect me, it reminds me of the importance of good rest and how vital it is. I also had an interesting dream about the black belt test. In it, the test was help in a stadium setting and there were thousands of people there. I just remember being extremely nervous and was unable to perform anything. We were testing one at a time which was even worse. When it came my turn to go, I panicked and then woke up that way. Even though it was just a dream, it felt very real and was actually quite frightening. Prior to the test, I am going to focus on rest, eating healthy, and meditation to try and keep calm. I know I likely won’t completely and suddenly forget everything I’ve learned over the past 8 years, but I still have to make sure I’m mentally sharp for the big day.

You are not alone in how you feel. Classes are getting more intense. My fear for the test is real. I feel like I am going beyond my boundaries of comfort especially in bear knuckle sparring. Some days I don’t sleep well. I just keep going to class trying to do my best. I am here if you need to talk.
We can do it Elan! We’re all in it together and will accomplish it as a group
