Just got back from vacation in Egypt. I spent about 2 weeks there. It was a scuba diving/sightseeing trip. My mom and sister went with me. I meet a lot of new friends on this trip and have so much to post.

Doe starters, I was able to do some videos of my katas at a few historical sites. Seisan was at the Temple of Karnak. Seiuchin was at the Temple of Hatshepsut. Naihanchi was on the lowest level of blocks at the base of the Great Pyramid of Egypt that belonged to Pharaoh Khufu. Kusanku was at the Sphinx with the Sphinx and Pyramids in the background.

Disclaimer- No kiya’s were performed in these videos. For some reason I felt weird about it. Considering they are ancient temples devoted to Pharaoh’s of the past. It’s a little awkward to do kata in tennis shoes. And extremely nerve wracking to do it in front of so many other tourists. I kept telling myself to slow down, that I was going too fast. But I think that just made me go faster lol.

Either way, great experiences to learn from. Kusanku by the Sphinx was a dream come true. Kusanku is my favorite kata. Egypt has been on my bucket list since as far back as I can remember. Being able to combine the two, was very meaningful to me.

My current Challenge progress as of May 19, 2024.

  1. Welcome back. It sounds like an amazing trip. How awesome to see all those places and practice karate there. I am sure people enjoyed watching your katas.
