I knew it may happen eventually if I kept up at my current pace. An injury. I went to class 3 days in a row and sparred 2 days in a row to really get in some solid kumite time before my 2 big trips I have upcoming. I don’t know exactly when it happened but I noticed it Friday morning. My right knee started hurting quite a bit and felt swollen and unstable. Although it is slowly getting better and I did go to the dojo on Sunday for some extra kata and very light sparring, I noticed it hurting when kicking with my left leg. This is a very unfortunate and inopportune time to get injured. I have to keep pace going into my test and I will be doing lots of walking on both my trips abroad. It’s a very frustrating thing but I can only do my best. I won’t give up.

I know about injuries. I just pulled a muscle in my back which hurts a lot. It makes doing pushups, crunches, and kata very challenging. My ankle is still swollen. I feel the pressure as we get closer. As you say we can only do our best. Take it easy. Rest, ice, and elevate your knee. I hope it heals quickly. I think it will because you are healthy. Have a great trip if I don’t see you before you leave.
