I sprained my knee about a year ago when I was playing indoor soccer. Luckily, I didn’t miss too much work. However, I did have to make the decision to give up soccer. The knee sprain was my second soccer injury during a three month time frame. And I couldn’t risk another injury and missing work again.
Ever since that sprain, I have had a bit of a mental block when it comes to physical activity involving any type of quick movements/turns. With that being said, I gave up sparring too.
Last night was my first night back on the mat. (Shout out to Cooper and Elan!! THANK YOU so much for having patience with me). It felt good to be able to spar. I had to go slow and really focus on my foot work. Kicks are still tricky with balance and power. I am a little slower and need to adjust my timing as well. I know all of this will come with more time and more training. I am just excited to get back out there!
Good for you to take the first step. There will be many more steps. Just keep on doing one step at a time.
Yes ma’am! I will see you this Thursday for step 2 =o)
