About two weeks into the challenge and I find myself pressed for time. I had a plan in mind, but the execution isn’t quite right. I am either hyper focused on the goal or I get completely wrapped up in work, family, etc and time is flying by. I tell myself its just an adjustment phase and that it’ll get better. I question that a bit. As if my mind is telling me what I want to hear instead of addressing the problem. I am of two mindsets. One, can I create a schedule for myself to be able to dedicate the time needed to make progress with the challenge? Two, is part of this challenge realizing that I can’t plan for this? Do I need to be ok with not having a plan and take things one day at a time. Weekends were the days I planned on catching up and/or get ahead for the following week. But instead if making progress, I am at work. I have already looked around my workspace to see if there are any areas with enough room to run some kata. I read a chapter of my current book in between each report I write. I know we are only two weeks in, but the last thing I want is to fall behind from the start. If anything, the more I think about it, the more frustrated I get that I am here when I could be at the dojo.

Sometimes if you just take some time to yourself you can find yourself focusing on a solution faster. Maybe you can just read or meditate whenever you can, that is what helps me when I get stressed out sometimes. I’m sure you will find a way to work around your problem.
I also have a hard time fitting everything in. I try and do a little bit at one time. I can’t do all my pushups and sit ups all at once. I break them up at different times of the day. Some days I can’t get in all the exercise I aim for. I try to do a little more on a different day. Do what you can at the times when you can.
You’ve doing great getting into the dojo consistently to train given your distance of the commute! I’d recommend trying to get some sparring partners to stay after class with you every day you are in so you can keep up on your sparring rounds too!
