Karate is not only about punching and kicking. Karate is also about kindness, compassion, and empathy. I recently finished my 1000 acts of kindness in my black belt challenge. I did at least three acts of kindness everyday. Here are examples of 20 acts of kindness that anyone can do also. You could give food to the homeless. You could help some stranger at the gas station put the gas pump in their tank because they have a hand cast. You could help an elder person get something off a shelf and put it in their cart at the store. You could open the door for a stranger. You could let someone go ahead and before you while driving. You could pick up someone from the airport or take them so they don’t have to take an uber. You could offer a ride to a classmate you know so they don’t have to take the bus. You could take a person to a cross county meet or meeting so they have a ride there. You could take recycling from a meet or meeting to be recycled at your house. You could pick up garbage that is not yours to keep the environment clean. You could volunteer at a school or any other activities that need help. You could donate food or clothes to those that need it. You could give a gift of chalk to a neighbor kid because you know they will enjoy it. You could spend time and talk to someone who needs a listening ear. You could help a stranger get their sick dog in the car. You could pick up something for an older person so they don’t have to bend down to pick it up. You could bring food to someone who is taking care of a sick loved one. You could let someone go in front of you when ordering or picking up food. You could get up early to make a big breakfast for family members before a big race. You could give a hug to someone who needs it. You could take someone out to lunch for their birthday unexpectedly.
I am glad this is one of the requirements in this black belt challenge. I feel good helping others. It probably makes the other people happy also. I will continue to do acts of kindness for the rest of my life. It is a good way to live life.
