I have finished doing one kata 1,000 times. I picked Chinto as my kata. I did it three times almost everyday except when I was in jured or very sick. I feel like my Chinto kata has improved tremendously from day one. If you practice anything for almost a year straight it will improve. I feel that because I have done that practice and discipline all my katas have improved. I did not understand why I had to do it at the beginning of the black belt challenge. I know why now. I will continue to practice that kata and all of them even though I finished. It will benefit me in the long run.
I have also finished meditating around 15 minutes almost everyday. Meditation was a challenge for me. It was very difficult to calm my mind. I focused on my breathing. I often had random thoughts come in my mind. I had to let go of them and refocus on my breathing. I guess it will always be a work in progress. I will also continue to meditate on a daily basis. These are both great accomplishments in my black belt challenge.
