I was golfing with a friend of mine and he told me that a fundamental of the game is “always have a target”. Of course, in golf, it is crucial to always be aiming your shot at something and hoping the ball goes to where you want it to go. Otherwise, if the focus is not directed, it’s very easy to hit a shot in the wrong direction, then it is all the harder to get back to where you need to be. In life, and especially karate, this also rings true. For the black belt test, keeping the goal in my crosshairs is the thing to focus on. Not to be led off course by distractions. Keep up with the training, always be “aiming” toward the goal, which in this case is obtaining a black belt. This is important in life in many ways. Always stay focused on the goal. It is so easy to get off course in life. If we fall victim to our daily distractions (which are abundant), we risk not obtaining the goal at all or, at the very least, the goal will be all the further away. Resetting with a deep breath, remembering what’s really important is something we should all do if we feel ourselves straying.

That’s good advice. This is a difficult mountain to climb. We just need to keep climbing one day every day. I write my tasks I have done paper. It keeps me motivated and focused because I see what I have done every single day.
