Thank You

I am getting close to finishing my black belt challenge.  I have a few more requirements to complete.  It is hard for  me to think that over a year ago I was asked about doing this.  I would have never believed I could or would be able to do it without my Sensei Mike Oliver, my husband Ryan, and my friends.  They all saw something in me that I could not see.  I was really scared to start this challenge because I was not sure I could do it and complete it.  I was afraid of failing.

My husband Ryan was there from the beginning to now.  He was encouraging with guidance and support the entire time.  He was there when I felt like quitting because I felt I was not good enough or belonged.  He lifted me up and helped me start again the next day.  I kept on continuing because of him.  He proof read all my blogs.  He has helped me many times on the computer so I could post blogs and videos.  He has done many of my miles with me.  He had encouraged me to overcome my fears of teaching in front of people.  He had encouraged me to do tournaments even when it is difficult for me to compete.  I always get nervous and self conscience.  He even did the walk with me on Run To Feed The Hungry because everyone else did the run.  He picks up the kids from practice and school so I can make it to my karate classes.  He has been my stable rock to keep me continuing on.

Thank you to Sensei Oliver because he pushes me and challenges me to succeed.  Thank you to my friends that say, “You got this.”  Thank you to my husband Ryan for always being there for me.  I will complete this black belt challenge because of their help.

My current Challenge progress as of January 22, 2025.

  1. Throughout this journey you’d tell me about your conversations with Ryan, and I was always impressed by his level headed and consistent support for you, and I remember thinking more than once “How awesome”. 👏🏼

  2. A test like this impacts everyone around–by design. But it especially has an impact on our immediate family. Ryan is a good man–you have a great tribe of people around you Elan!
