I finished my second book for my black belt test! This book is called “The Laws of Simplicity.” The book is essentially about how you take your chaotic lives and try to make them simpler. It talks about how hard it is to drop old habits in order to create new ones, but how important it is. When I am reading the books for this test, I have my sticky notes, and as I am reading them, I take note of what I think is important, quotes, and what stood out to me. Here are some of my biggest takeaways.

People hide their bad parts. For instance, when someone cleans, they don’t organize; they just hide the mess. Or on social media, people only show the good parts of their lives

Change your focus. Instead of focusing on how you can make a wait time shorter, focus on how you can make a wait time more tolerable

Show your emotions. More emotions are better than fewer. It is okay to be vulnerable and not hold in how you are feeling

Trust. You have to be able to lean back and rely on others

Confidence. Have confidence in what you do and say, and people will listen to you

  1. That sounds like a good book to read. I like the ideas you are writing down. It is human to be vulnerable especially during this black belt challenge. It is important to lean on friends and family. They will help you when you really need them. It is good to be positive about life.
