Yosemite Adventures

This week I was fortunate to be able to camp and visit Yosemite.  We left on Monday afternoon and arrived at 5 pm.  After a quick dinner we went on a bike ride around the valley floor.  It is such a breathtaking spectacular scenic place.  There are enormous granite cut mountains from glaciers, a river, many species of trees and plants, and huge powerful waterfalls.  The air was fresh and clean with clear blue skies.  The bike ride was a great way to start our vacation.  I rode 10 miles that night.  The next day we hiked to the top of Nevada Falls.  It was an intense hike because the elevation gain was around 2000 ft.  It was very difficult.  I just hiked one step at a time up the switchbacks.  I  did not quit even when my body was really tired and sore.  I told myself I know you can do this.  I did do it.  Half dome looked very close up, but it was still a 5 mile hike away.  The Nevada Waterfall at the top was very powerful.  I was glad I did the hike.  I was able to do it because I told my mind I could.  I need to remember that to carry me through to the end of the test.  That day I hiked a total of 10 miles.   The next day we rode our bikes through all the bike trails in Yosemite Valley.  I rode 16 miles total.  Another great day for milage.  The last day we took the public bus up to see Mariposa Grove.  The Sequoia Trees are such beautiful enormous trees.  We did the small hike around the grove about 2.2 miles.  We saw where the fires from last year had come so close to the grove.  I hope these trees can survive many more thousands of years.  They are amazing giants.  We left for home after seeing them.  This vacation was so wonderful.  I am glad I can see and enjoy Yosemite with my family.  I was able to get my pushups. crunches, and kata around the trees on a picnic blanket and mat in the campgrounds.
