It’s my senior year of high school! I’m about a week into the school year so I thought that I would write about my classes this year. I start my day at 7:30am with zero period AFJROTC. In this zero period we train for the many events that we have throughout the year, more specifically all of the color guard events that we have during the year. My first period is also AFJROTC, however it isn’t working with special teams, just with my senior class where we learn about life skills, such as how to write a check, how to buy a car, how to open a bank account, etc. We also get to plan the annual Military Ball which will be held in February. My second period is AP English Literature. I really like the teacher, however I think it is going to be my most difficult class this year. Third period is peer tutoring for one of the underclassmen JROTC classes. Fourth period is U.S. Government. We get to learn about how the U.S. government is run, the branches of government, and determining where we stand politically as individuals. After that is lunch and then its fifth period advanced ceramics! I took beginner ceramics last year and I really enjoyed it, so I decided to take the advanced class this year since I needed more electives to fill my schedule. There isn’t a super strict schedule of what we have to make, we just get to make anything we want! My last class of the day is sixth period which is AP Environmental Science. Even though it is an AP class, I am really looking forward to it. We get to learn about things such as climate change, pollution, carbon footprints, biodiversity, population, etc. I find this subject extremely interesting because I really like learning about the environment and also how to help our planet. We learn about many different ways that we can reduce our carbon footprint and help the environment. We also get to go on four field trips this year! I really love the environment and learning how to help. I think that this school year is going to be a good one because I’m interested in almost all of the classes that I’m taking and it should be a fun year because there are lots of activities planned for seniors!
