Meditation

One of the many tasks that I need to complete on my black belt test is doing 15 minutes of meditation every day. I don’t talk about it a whole lot on here, so I’m going to talk about it in this blog. Meditation was one of the most difficult tasks for me in the beginning. I really struggled to just sit down and do nothing for 15 minutes. Even if I split it into 7-and-a-half-minute sections, it was still tough for me. I just didn’t know how to turn my brain off for a duration of time. It always feels like my brain turns itself off when I’m at school and supposed to be paying attention, but not when it’s actually time to meditate. Over the past few months, I have gotten a lot better at it. I am still not always able to turn my brain off, especially when I have things going on, but sometimes just sitting and thinking about things is nice too. When I meditate, I usually just sit on the ground and close my eyes. I know that there are other ways to meditate, but this is my preferred way.

  1. Meditation is something I have had difficulty doing. The book You Are Here by Thich Nhat Hahn is an excellent book that talks about meditation. It helped me get better at meditation. I recommend reading it because it has excellent insights about meditation.
