Mid-April my company Sunrun had scheduled a three days offsite in Morro Bay. Not the worst location to spend a few days with colleagues that I have not seen in person since a few months. Fortunately, Covid restrictions were lowered in time to make this meeting possible.
However, it was with a sad heart as well that I went there, as I had decided to move on in my career and switch jobs at the end of May. We had a good time with just a few meetings and a lot of team building exercises – like golfing, hiking, biking, and some archery. Besides this team workout I was able to go running every morning on the beach at Morro Bay Inn and the adjacent golf course. It was a very good start of the busy days to get up in the early morning and to run during the mist with sun rising at one side and the pacific on the other. I have a few colleagues that are truly blessed to work and live close to that location.
But yes, I did quit Sunrun and will approach a new challenge in a total different industry – Bio Engineering. The new job will be in office as well and less home office. This will present another challenge as I am quite used to get some workout in during my office hours at home, just drop next to the desk and do some push and sit ups – No Problem! Now, with shirt and business pants in a crowded office this might not be as easily possible. I have to come up with a new plan – more workout before I will go into the office and on the evenings.
Congratulations, my friend, on the new opportunity. You have a lot going on (new job, black-belt training, father, etc.), but I admire you for your drive, ambition and willingness to take on new challenges. I am confused though, Go running? You…did? Run? That’s terrific! Running on the beach and by the ocean is always invigorating and for me some level of meditation (yes, even while running). At first I thought this might be someone else’ blog! Ha!
You are going to do terrific in your new job! They hired a good one.
