This test has obviously been a big part of my life recently, but another thing that has been a big part of my life in the last year or so is my involvement with teaching classes at the dojo. I help teach the Tuesday and Thursday core class every week, and I teach the Saturday morning tigers/dragons class every week. I started assisting in these classes about a year ago, always with the intention that I would eventually teach these classes on my own once one of our instructors went off to college. He left in August, and ever since then, I have been running these classes. It’s been a really great experience getting to lead these classes, especially since I want to be an elementary school teacher when I am older. I think that working with kids now is a really great learning opportunity for me. I have worked with kids in the past when I used to babysit, however working with large groups of kids was something that I was unfamiliar with until now. I have learned a lot in the past year since I started assisting in class, and I am grateful for every opportunity that I am given. However, I think that the best part of having this job is the connection that I have made with the kids. There are a handful of kids in particular who have become very comfortable around me since I started in their classes, and it’s really rewarding when they get excited to see me teaching their class.

Teaching is a wonderful rewarding experience. I am glad that it brings you joy since you will be a school teacher someday in the future. I also started teaching an adult class in the morning when I started my black belt challenge. It has helped me grow and became a better martial artist. I know it is also helping you on your challenge. It is very rewarding to see students learn, progress, and smile happily from teaching. Keep on being the positive role model in children lives.
