Sunday Training

1 min read 182 words 1 views

Every Sunday morning Avi and I go to the dojo to get some extra training time in. Normally when we get there, the first thing we do is makiwara. It’s an easy thing to get out of the way. Sometimes we will switch it up and do pushups and sit-ups first. But the main reason we go is to get a lot of sparring rounds in. One of my biggest fears with this test is falling behind on sparring because it’s something that I can only get done at the dojo. With makiwara, pushups, sit-ups, kata, miles, and reading, I can do all of them at my house.

We normally get 15 rounds of sparring in, which is great because that is 5 days worth of numbers. Sometimes it’s hard to force myself to get up and go to the dojo so early on a Sunday, but it always ends up being worth it afterwards. Plus Avi and I normally get Starbucks after. I think getting this extra training time in has really helped me stay on top of my numbers.
