Just a few weeks ago, our dojo had a CPR/AED first aid class. It was awesome! It covered CPR, Stop the Bleed, responding to choking incidents, recognizing heat-related symptoms, and more. Learning about the human body and how to save a life was really interesting. Honestly, this class really solidified my desire to become a nurse.
I have always been fascinated by the human body, how it functions and all its odd little complexities. The idea of being able to repair and heal people is truly amazing. While injuries and needles have never really concerned or grossed me out, vomit… that definitely concerns and grosses me out, but I’m working on that (sort of). Medical shows have also always interested me, although I know they are not very accurate most of the time; seeing the procedures always fascinated me. Being able to practice skills like CPR, wound packing, splinting, and choking maneuvers in class really showed me that medicine is the field I want to pursue!
