More Mileage!

One of the ways that I have been getting my miles in is riding around my neighborhood. Specifically, going up and down parking garages. I am lucky enough to live just a block away from the UC Davis Medical Center, and there are three different parking garages within it. I have been going on my bike rides at night, usually after I get home from karate most nights. I don’t like riding at night by myself, so my dad will go on these nighttime bike rides with me. On average, we get about 6 miles on each bike ride. We usually start by just riding around the neighborhood, going down different streets. Once we have done about three miles through the neighborhood, we ride to the med center and start going up and down the parking garages. Obviously, the uphill is a lot more difficult because of the incline, but it is worth it because going down the parking garage is much easier since gravity does most of the work for you. Since my dad and I go on late bike rides, the parking garages are typically very empty since most of the employees and students have gone home, so we don’t have to deal with people driving while we are riding our bikes. At this pace of doing six-mile bike rides many times a week, I should be all caught up with my mileage in no time.

  1. Bike riding is a great way to get mileage. I did many miles on my bike during the challenge. That is awesome that you can do that with your dad. What a beautiful way to spend your time with your dad. These positive uplifting memories will last a lifetime.
