This past weekend I competed in NorCal. NorCal is a big drill competition for all of the JROTC units in northern California. This year my school competed in unarmed drill, armed drill with rifles, and color guard. I was a part of the unarmed drill divisions and I led the JV color guard team. We have been working towards this event since last September, practicing with our teams every week for months on end. One of my jobs in ROTC is to run our entire zero period class, and I was apart of a lot of the behind the scenes to make sure that our school performed well. It was a lot of work but very rewarding. We ended up placing in every division we competed in and we went home with four trophies which is quadruple what we got last year. Our school hasn’t done this well at this competition in many years and it’s nice to see all of our hard work actually pay off. Now that it is over, it’s a little bit sad, but at the same time I have a lot less responsibilities and things to deal with which is a relief. Until next year!
