This week I chaperoned my daughter’s trip to Catalina Island. It was an amazing trip overall. We went day snorkeling, night snorkeling, day kayaking, night kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, archery, visited the aquarium, touched sea animals, team bonding games, and enjoyed nature. It was a very busy week from 7 A.M. until 10 P.M. at night. I experienced many new adventures on this trip for the first time. I had never night snorkeled, night kayaked, tried paddle boarding, and done archery. Snorkeling was seeing a whole new kelp forest world. It was full of living creatures. I saw huge lobsters, a round ray, Garibaldi fish, and kelp fish. I understand why Elizabeth love diving. It is truly an eye opening experience to the ocean world. Kayaking was peaceful. We saw the kelp forest above the water. I did meditate on the ocean when I did not have to watch kids. At night I saw biolumenescents above water. It looked like gold diamond sparkles when I moved my hands in the water. When I paddle boarded I mostly sat on it. I tried to stand up but, felt very unbalanced. In archery I got better the more I practiced. A couple of times I got close to the bull eye. The hikes had breathtaking scenery.
I was able to fit in my kata, pushup, and crunches in the little free time I did have. I did not miss a day which I am happy about.
An unfortunate event was I lost my wedding ring when snorkeling at night. My luggage was also lost after we returned home. I try not to be too upset about it.
The kids from school were good. The trip was fantastic. If I could I would do it all over again. I am happy I was able to continue to practice karate for this challenge even when I was so busy. It just took a little carved out time here or there. I would like to thank Mrs. T and Mrs. A for making this trip so successful. Without all their hard work this would not have happened.
