So far, recovery has been ok; the first week was mostly just spent sitting or lying down with my knee immobilizing brace on. I had crutches to use whenever I needed to move around, and I got a wrap-around ice pack specially made for knee injuries from a friend who recently went through knee surgery.

The second week, I returned to work, obviously not teaching since I was still in my immobilizing brace, but I got to do my desk work. It was nice to get back into my routine, even if I couldn’t do everything I normally could.

In the third week, I was feeling better, still in my immobilizer most of the time, but my knee was feeling better, still sore, but I could walk better, and it took longer to get sore while standing.

Now I’ve started PT (physical therapy). It’s fine; I don’t necessarily like doing it, but I know that it’s helping my knee get better, slowly but surely. I’m also out of my immobilizer and in a hinge brace, which is so much easier, especially since I don’t have to put it over my clothes. And I’ve started to get back in the habit of doing my numbers, just push-ups and crunches mostly, but I’ve gotten some makiwara and even a few miles in with Elinor!
