    • Congrats on being group CC — that’s a high leadership position! My son did CLC for AFJROTC and enjoyed it. Sounds like you are as well. May you continue to learn as much from your students as they learn from you 🙂

    State Fair

On July 26th I went to the State Fair! The State Fair is my favorite part of summer because I LOVE roller coasters and rides. My favorite ride at the fair is this really really tall ride with 4 seats at either end.…

    Isshinryu Hall of Fame

This weekend I was lucky enough to fly to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to compete in the Isshinryu Hall of Fame tournament. The team competing was me, Lucas, Eliana, Clark, Donovan, Gabe, Bekka, Gail, Sensei Debord, and…

    • Congratulations! Well done in kata and sparring. It looks like a great tournament to compete in.

    • Congrats on your placements in the tournament! I was so happy to finally begin to meet members of my dojo. I’m glad you enjoyed visiting my “new” home state! I look forward to seeing you in California soon!

    • Beautiful kata! You really nailed the most challenging sections, such as the spin, which can be especially challenging on an unfamiliar surface. Thank you for representing the dojo so well!

    College Tour

Last Friday, my family and I drove up to Arcata, CA to tour Cal Poly Humboldt. Senior year is approaching really fast and I need to decide where I’m applying for college. Honestly, up until this past spring I had n…

    • How exciting! This is a fun life season and I’m glad you’re making the most of it. Good luck getting into your top choice school!

    • Humboldt State now Cal Poly Humboldt is an excellent school. I went there for my degree in Zoology. It has an incredible science program. The outdoors there are so beautiful. You will never run out of things to do like hiking, biking, camping, rock climbing, rafting, and backpacking. If you love the outdoors and major in environmental science it’s the place for you. Good luck in applying.

    • If you and Olivia both end up at Humboldt, you are going to be significantly increasing the amount of Isshinryu karate-ka there by a large amount!

    Back Again

Hi everybody, sorry about the long gap in between my posts writing has really never been one of my strong suits. I recently went on an 8-day-long camping trip (super long, I know) for the 4th of July. For the first…

    • What a beautiful picture! I’m glad you had a nice long trip with family and friends. I hope that means you enjoy camping!
I’m glad you padded your numbers before hand. But to mirror back, you said “All my hard work down the drain.” I’m curious…wasn’t that the intention of doing that? So is your hard work down the drain or did you accomplish your goal? Is it reasonable to assume the numbers will ebb and flow, like the tide? Perhaps you’re experiencing Isshinryu code #2 ~ The blood circulating is the same as the moon and the sun. To me, that code says things will come and go. It might be an interesting experiment to see how that perspective might lighten the load of the challenge. Keep up the great work! So excited to do this journey with you!

    • That’s great you were able to camp for 8 days with family and friends. I find the outdoors to be invigorating, relaxing, and refreshing. It so helpful to have family and friends help motivate you for the challenge. They will be your support throughout this challenge.
